The calendar above is an adaptation of the Tohono O’odham and Piipaash Cultural Calendars which were used as a tool throughout the design processs to learn about and understand the traditional seasonal activities and the ethnoecology of the region.

For the Tohono O’odham, time corresponds with social events and the harvesting and gathering of wild plants. The beginning of a new year is signified when the saguaro fruit is ready to be harvested.
